Career Development
A special focus in the research unit 5250 is the promotion of scientific careers at the various locations under aspects of equal opportunities and equal rights. For this purpose, there are graduate centers and academies to inform and prepare young scientists with regard to doctoral studies, habilitation and professorship and to support them in successfully completing their studies.
Within the research unit, scientific exchange with and between junior scientists is actively promoted through plenary meetings, training courses and working group meetings, among other things. External research stays for scientific staff are intended to secure access to further experimental equipment. In addition, junior researcher grants are provided as start-up funding to enable highly qualified young scientists to apply for their own project in the second funding period through new innovative research work.
The coordination fund supports the young scientists of the research unit in all aspects of career development in science. With structuring elements defined in a supervision agreement, a customized training program, individual mentoring, counseling services, and gender- and diversity-oriented measures that systematically support all doctoral students with courses, workshops, and seminars, and promote rapid and successful completion. The research group offers courses on engineering and medical science as well as on business competence and personality development, thus creating a basis for an (inter-)disciplinary exchange of experience and the establishment of national as well as international networks.
